Automotive SimulationAutoSim is a hardware-in-the-loop simulation system for UWA's electric autonomous Formula SAE race car, which enables software to be tested in a highly iterative manner in a short time period. The AutoSim system is based on the open source CARLA simulator, which provides highly detailed graphics for use in image processing, along with other common automotive sensors such as LiDARs, GPS and IMU. The simulation is displayed on an array of three 32" FHD LCD monitors mounted in front of the driver. Manual input to the simulated vehicle is available through use of a Logitech G920 racing wheel and pedals. A smaller touch-screen monitor can also be attached in order to emulate the user interface found in the electric autonomous Formula SAE race car. AutoSim is powered by an Intel i7-4770 processor, and a Nvidia GTX Titan X graphics card. The system can also include a Nvidia Jetson AGX Xavier in order to replicate the data processing capabilities of the electric autonomous Formula SAE race car. |
