Electric Hub Motor SAE Race car
Formula SAE is an international design and performance competition, organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers. UWA has been extremely successful in the Formula SAE, taking out several national and international titles, including the Word Championship in 2008. In 2011 The REV Project started the construction of a race car for the Formula SAE Competition. The vehicle was designed and built by mechanical, electrical and software engineering students from 2011 to 2013. The vehicle features a separate electric motor for each wheel with an estimated peak power output of 10kW per motor (with the possiblility of increasing to 15 kW after testing). The motors are controlled by four separate controllers with each capable of individual control with CAD. The vehicle is designed and built to comply with the 2013 FSAE Rules. Specifications:
